GENERAL INFO ABOUT
ESTONIA

TALLINN

Many great things have happened in Estonia since the country regained independence in 1991. One of the things is that more and more people come to visit Estonia!

This website - called enjoyestonia.com - has the purpose of providing useful and interesting tourist information about Estonia. In the last 15 years there has been an amazing development in Estonia and this is something that seems to continue - especially in the capital Tallinn. Every year that I have visited Tallinn there has been new stores, shopping centers, restaurants, bars, discos, offices and renovated older buildings and roads.

Restaurants in Tallinnn now have a cuisine at level with Western Europe and sometimes above it - especially with regard to service. For a dinner with wine for example prices are about one third of those in "old Europe". The stores and shopping malls have a huge variety of brands and you can do real bargains here - in particular during sales. If you get tired of walking around and if the wheater is nice you can go to the beach which is just a few kilometres from the city center. If the weather doesn't allow a beach trip you can perhaps have a spa treatment or sit down and have something to drink at the numerous outdoor cafés and open-air restaurants in the old town. For more information about Tallinn please click here or on the button "Tallinn" to the left.

Besides Tallinn one of my favorite spots in Estonia is the island of Saaremaa (Ösel) which is the second largest island in the Baltic Sea. The main town on the island is Kuressaare and it is situated by the sea. It has a beautiful and well-preserved medieval castle with wallgraves and everything. Saaremaa is rather similar to the Swedish island Gotland - the largest Island in the Baltic Sea - and Kuressaare is a very nice summer town just like Gotlands main town Visby. Kuressaare has four major spa facilities and some smaller ones. Here you can get all kinds of treatments at a cost which is one fifth or one fourth of similar treatments in Western Europe. The island of Saaremaa has many long and beautiful beaches. During the summer there are many cool concerts and fun festivals on Saaremaa. For more info about Saremaa click here or on the buttons "Saaremaa" or "Kuressaare" to the left.

I hope you will enjoy this website and that you sometime - sooner or later - will go to or revisit Estonia !
