SAAREMAA (ÖSEL) AND KURESAARE
Saaremaa is the second largest island in the Baltic Sea. The main town on
the island is Kuressaare and it is situated by the sea. It has a beautiful and
well-preserved medieval castle with wallgraves and everything. Saaremaa is
rather similar to the Swedish island Gotland - the largest Island in the Baltic Sea - and
Kuressaare is a very nice summer town just like Gotlands main town Visby. Kuressaare has four major
spa facilities and some smaller ones. Here you can get all kinds of treatments
at a cost which is one fifth or one fourth of similar treatments in Western
Europe. The island of Saaremaa has many
long and beautiful beaches. During the summer there are many cool concerts and
fun festivals on Saaremaa.
